The Paul Wood Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) organization that was established in July 2022 after the unexpected death of Auburn Fire Rescue Lt. Paul Wood. He suffered an off-duty heart attack while at home at the age of 42. First and foremost, Paul was a husband and father to his wife and three daughters who were the loves of his life.
Paul, or "Woody" as he was known to his friends, loved the fire service. As his family will tell you this is all he wanted to do as a career since he was a young boy. He loved the atmosphere of the firehouse and he loved the people he worked with. Their health and safety were his number one priority.
Woody cared deeply about the mental wellbeing of his coworkers. The goal of the Paul Wood Foundation is to support organizations that provide Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) services to first responders.
